Four Roof Clover

Spring 2012 — Four Roof Clover, Austin, TX; 1,600 sf, public pavilion

The basic premise of this project was to create a roof for a public park that would be so beautiful visitors would imagine it as a great place for a wedding. Currently, the park is mostly used by neighborhood residents to walk their dogs.

I was really interested in the idea of affordances in architecture, and how to design space to be flexible for practical use. Because of this, I didn’t want my roof to create just one large space, but rather I merged four smaller roofs together to create a single structure. visitors feel this separation, which creates a sense of personal space even if other people are using the same roof for shelter.
