I’m currently reading Architecture: A Woman’s Profession, edited by Tanja Kullack. One of the first quotes in the book are by Jeanne Gang of Studio Gang and it so eloquently expressed why I want to be an architect, I thought I’d share it:

What has kept me doing what I do is the love of it—the actual work of it. When I travel, I am looking at architecture; when I daydream, I am thinking about architecture. Luckily, with design, that kind of focus doesn’t make you a boring person. The core of architecture is the pleasure of experiencing a wide range of life activities and designing spaces in which they’ll unfold. If I had to do it again, I would still pick architecture. It is a lifetime commitment that requires many sacrifices. You just have to love it, because if you are lukewarm about it, it’s too much work.
